Icebreaker

Icebreaker is a campaign that was created as part of a digital activism project. Its aim is to raise awareness of the grim reality that we've set ourselves on. With the icecaps melting the animals in the arctic are suffering more than we'd like to admit.

The concept was to create a fully fleged campaign that could be run across multiple media platforms. Radio, TV, Posters and Games were key areas that we intended to aim our campaign towards. The project was executed as part of a group - I took the lead on designing and creating the game using the Unreal Engine. I also headed the creation of campaign pack, the link for which can be found below, which also meant I was in charge of proof-reading for the radio and video scripts.

Icebreaker was a project that was very close to my heart and challenged me to use software I had not used prior to it. I had used Unreal Engine before in the creation of simple top-down games but had no experience in designing levels for a game in the side-scrolling genre.

This project took a significant amount of research from the entire group - the creation of User Personas, collection of primary and secondary research and planning for the future of a campaign.

The Project In Brief

Ultimately Icebreaker was a succesful campaign in our eyes. We created a series of seven total posters, a website, two social media accounts, a 2D Platforming game, two separate radio ads as a proof of concept for the creation of more in the future, a TV style advertisement and a mailchimp powered email newsletter. The end goal of this project was to lay the foundation for a system that would collate as much related information to the preservation of the Arctic environment.
