About the Campaign

Our aim is to do what we can to ensure that affordable sanitary products are available in the UK.

Most people are unawere there is a 5% tax on sanitry products in the UK. At the moment sanitary products are labeled as a "luxury" item with tax put on. To prove how ridiculous this is, sanitary products such as pads and tampons are "luxury" items while edible decorative sugar flowers are not. Meaning they are a "essential" item, crazy right?! Well we think so too!

And if you are still not convinced this tax is an issue, in the UK (Yes our own country!) 40% of women at some point in their lives have been unable to afford sanitary products. For women menstruating is not a choice and in a woman's lifetime they can spend over £18,000 on sanitary products.

Unforchantly a petition to abolish this tampon tax has already been put to parliament. And was denied. But we are not stopping there! We need results while waiting for the tax to be overturned. So we are going to supermarkets and asking they follow in the footsteps of their competitors. Tesco, Waitrose and Co-op now sell sanitary products at a 5% reduction. They are paying the tampon tax for us. This is a fantastic temporary solution to make sanitary products affordable.

So our aim is to pressure other main branch supermarkets to do this, and to create more awareness and keep the tampon tax relevant. The more noise about it we make the more likely things are going to change! Let's Tackle Tampon Tax!
