About Me

Hi, I'm Matt Cook. I'm a A UK based student who is fascinated by new and emerging technologies - Artificial Intelligence, Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality and Big Data to name a few specific examples. Although I had aspirations of becoming a dedicated front-end web developer I spent 3 years at Coventry University studying Digital Media, with a 1 year industry placement at The Walt Disney Company, and found myself enjoying my work the most when I was creating or studying something that was new.

Ever since reading into Artificial Intelligence in my second year I became fascinated by the workings of the technology - I began to build a pool of knowledge on the side of my primary studies at Coventry by following the development of systems related to artificial intelligence - like the use of Generative Adversarial Networks for the creation of sheet music, human faces, etc. - and found myself to be very passionate about the subject. A passion which would lead me to the creation of my final year project, computer.Learn(), which can be found in it's own section of this website.

Work Experience

As briefly mentioned I spent a year on industry placement at The Walt Disney Company where I worked as a Digital Operations Intern. The work involved operating in an AGILE work environment on a constantly evolving set of projects and websites. I did some CMS work, created some minigames for the games department and worked closely with the app development team. Working in this kind of environment helped inform my decision to want to try something new when I returned to University.
